And history lovers are spoilt for choice in this fascinating locality: the home of the late Lord Louis Mountbatten the picturesque village of Stockbridge which dates back to 1141 and Mottisfont Abbey once the property of William the Conqueror and now famous for its superb walled rose garden are among the attractions within a short drive as are the lovely cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester. The many delights of the New Forest National Park are also easily accessible.
