Nestling in unspoilt Teesdale countryside the historic village of Bowes is the delightful backdrop for this traditional cosy cottage conveniently located beside the village's 16th century coaching inn. The village is clustered round a Norman castle itself built on the site of a Roman fort and is ideally located for walkers of all abilities – both the Pennine and Teesdale Ways are close by whilst the beautiful landscape of Swaledale is a short drive. Bowes Museum and the spectacular High Force waterfalls are within easy reach and the cobbled streets and ancient ruins of the medieval market town of Barnard Castle lie just 4½ miles away. Walking riding golf and fishing are enjoyed locally. Shops 4½ miles.

Set in the small Weardale village of Westgate surrounded by glorious walking country of unspoilt fells and dales in an area of outstanding natural beauty this cosy cottage is ideally located for enjoying a great array of attractions. Cracket Cottage itself simply oozes character and charm its beamed interior retaining many period features whilst its courtyard garden is perfect for relaxing and taking in the lovely countryside views. Kilhope Lead Mining Museum Weardale Railway (seasonal) and pony trekking in Hamsterley Forest are all nearby and Durham (16 miles) is well worth a visit for its Norman castle cathedral and river boat trips. Within a 30 mile drive visitors can enjoy stunning views whilst exploring Hadrian's Wall and its Roman forts. Fishing is found locally. Shop and pub serving food under 100 yards.
